Phlebotomist/HCA

You will work collaboratively within the general practice team to meet the needs of patients. The phlebotomist/HCA will be part of the nursing team responsible for collecting blood samples from patients and general HCA duties dependant on experience. 

Qualities required include attention to detail, dexterity, empathy and the ability to work under pressure in a very busy environment. 

The role involves explaining to patients the details of the procedure in order to relieve anxiety. You will be responsible for ensuring correct collection tubes are labelled post collection and carry out basic urine testing of samples delivered on the day. You may also be required to record and document patient height and weight and other HCA duties dependant on experience. You will ensure compliance with established health and safety procedures during phlebotomy collection. This includes adhering to infection control policies for correct and safe disposal of sharps.  Adhering to the laws regarding handling of hazardous materials is also required.

 

Job type: Part-time, permanent

Pay: £11.50-£13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25-30 per week
