Cross Keys Practice Accredited as Armed Forces Veteran Friendly
There is an estimated 2.5 million veterans in the UK. Veterans represent a significant proportion of our patient population and the NHS is committed to providing veterans with the specialist care that they need, including high quality mental health support. Dr Jonathan Leach, NHS England Medical Director for Armed Forces and Veterans Health, said:
“GPs play a key part in helping us to support veterans adapt to civilian life, and it is therefore vital that they understand their particular health needs in order to ensure that they get the right treatment and care”.
As a result NHS England and the Royal College of GPs set up the Armed Forces Veteran Friendly Accreditation scheme. Within the Aylesbury Vale South Primary Care Network, Cross Keys Surgery, serves Princes Risborough, Chinnor and surrounding area. Thanks to the hard work of Dr. Liz Acaster and the staff at the surgery.
On 23rd October 2019 Buckinghamshire County Councillor Bill Bendyshe-Brown presented the Accreditation Certificate to the Practice. As a veteran himself, is well aware of the needs of veterans and has been a tireless Armed Forces Champion for the county.
